That's Silver Lake (3 miles long). We're about 3,000 feet above the ground.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no wind when you are up in a balloon AND it's warmer up there than it is on the ground.

im not sure that i ever pondered the existence of wind while hot-air ballooning, but now it all makes sense to me. thanks jess
